Overall Job Description

To provide and assist audit coverage, supervision and co-ordination of internal audit work within the organization.


  • Assist in the preparations of audit plans in regard to appropriate measures of MEC organisational risks; facilitate annual audit processes.
  • Develop standard audit procedures and carry out performance audits by looking at roles according to objectives and identify gaps.
  • Develop corrective action and recommendations for improvement on audit findings and report accordingly.
  • Audit systems and identify risk areas in the system and recommend how these risks can be managed.
  • Assist in ensuring that all allegations of financial irregularity, fraud and corruption are promptly and fully investigated.
  • Supervise and review work performed by assistant internal auditors and internal audit assistants.
  • Draft preliminary audit reports in connection with work papers to assure full and complete reporting in a professional manner prior to submission to the supervisor.
  • Ensure that relevant legislation, statutory instruments, codes of conduct and organisational policies are adhered to.
  • Any other duties assigned from time to time.

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor of Accountancy or Bachelor of Internal Audit; possession of CIA ICT qualifications will be an added advantage.
  • Not less than 3years experience performing audit work in a busy audit office.
  • A good working knowledge of legislation governing public procurement, finance management and auditing in the public sector.
  • Ability to work in teams and to interact with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
