MACRA and Malawi Electoral Commission are working hand in hand to make sure that the 2019 elections are free and fair.
The two institutions have shared their work plan on how they intend to work, regulate and monitor the media.
Speaking on behalf of the Director General, Dan Chioni who is Acting Director of legal services said MACRA has set up rules which need to be re-enforced. He said MACRA on its part will intensify monitoring to ensure that no broadcaster is breaching the law.
In his remarks media, civic and voter education chairperson, Commissioner Mastern Moffat Banda said it was on the premise of the past working relationship and also the regulatory role of MACRA that the Commission felt it was important that the two institutions should meet before the preparations for the 2019 elections intensify.
